Sales Manager
MANUFACTURING SALES MANAGER
The Company
BarnettBates is a Chicago-based, $6.5 million dollar all custom
manufacturer/fabricator (no pre-built, off-the-shelf products).
Products begin with a primary raw material of grating--aluminum,
steel, plank-type safety grating, or large panels of architectural
fencing offered in a number of alternative patterns. We are recognized
in the marketplace for excellent customer service and attention
to detail as well as the capability to manufacture the industry’s
narrowest bar spacing for aluminum grating. We provide custom grating
solutions and architectural fencing countrywide to general contractors,
miscellaneous metals firms and fencing subcontractors. Our manufacturing
and office facility is a relatively small, close-knit and family
run, hands-on working environment where all can participate and
monitor various phases of shop and front office activity.
The Position
Description:
As a byproduct of certain internal restructuring and immediate market
demands, we have an extraordinary opportunity for a highly motivated,
qualified sales management professional to participate in taking
the company to new levels of growth and profitability. This Manufacturing
Sales Manager will be responsible for developing a cohesive and
strategically-driven sales group. He/She will guide a group of skilled
sales staff and support personnel to help achieve the company’s
objectives and projected sales growth, including identification
of possible new capabilities and products.
Responsibilities:
• Together with the sales management team, create and document
an annual strategic plan for sales growth. Manage the execution
of plan.
• Structure and develop a cohesive sales team through careful
analysis of sales processes while providing right mix of training
and staff development.
• Participate effectively in the identification and development
of new products and opportunities.
• Work with Sales Team to understand and target customers’
needs and propose solutions to effectively meet needs.
• Develop, monitor, and maintain the sales and marketing
strategy to help monitor and reduce costs.
• Collaborate with purchasing, production and shipping
to continually improve processes, products and quality in support
of Lean business practices.
• Demonstrate values and mission of company through honest
and open communication to internal and external customers.
• Initiate/execute sales activities to develop new clients.
• Assist with performance appraisals and make recommendations
for continued development.
The Candidate
Talents and Skills:
• A proven sales leader with a track record of success.
• Strong understanding of business and account development.
A critical knowledge of cross-selling, up-selling, and account
penetration is required.
• Effective communication skills and ability to inspire
teamwork
• Proven track record of successfully developing new markets,
growing sales and enhancing profitability.
• Strong leadership/management skills including ability
to coach/mentor other sales associates through listening, sharing
ideas, and recognition.
• Ability to plan and manage at both the strategic and
operational levels.
Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, engineering,
marketing or related field, MBA a plus.
• Familiarity with structural metal construction.
• A minimum of 5 years experience in sales management with
a track record of success.
• Experience with engineered/technical products preferred.
• Computer familiarity is a requirement. Particularly with
Microsoft Office Programs and daily work with Project Management
software.
