DESIGN OF EXPERIMENTS (DOE)

The application of geometric principles to statistical sampling to obtain desired results. DOE minimizes the number of experiments necessary to obtain the answer to a problem or minimizes the variance of estimated coefficients obtained through regression.

FROM THE BAC AQS MANUAL: DOE is a systematic approach to purposeful change in process inputs (parameters, factors) to observe corresponding change in outputs (responses). The purpose of designing an experiment is to provide the most efficient and economical methods of reaching valid and relevant conclusions about process inputs and effect on variation in process outputs.
