FLOW PRODUCTION

Describes how goods, services, or information is processed. It is, at its best, one piece at a time. The flow may consist of parts, documents, invoices, customer orders, etc. It rejects the concept of batch, lot, or mass processing. Flow production vertically integrates all operations and functions as operationally or sequentially performed. It encompasses pull or demand production. If all waste is removed, it might be the value stream.
