POKA-YOKE

Japanese for “oops proofing", this is a method of designing processes, either production or administrative, that will prevent errors. Examples: designing fixtures, that will not accept a defective part or having credit memos a different color than debit memos. It requires thought in the design of any system to anticipate what can go wrong and build in measures to prevent them. Poka-yoke supports the concept of quality at the source.
