INVENTORY
In manufacturing, inventory consists of raw material, work-in-process,
and finished goods inventories. Excess inventory is unproductive
and represents an investment with a low or zero rate of return.
For raw material and work-in-process inventory, the objective is
to have the minimum amount inventory to support production. See
Standard Work in Process Inventory.
