PROCESS MAPPING
Process Mapping – A visual representation of the actual sequence
of events that any product, service or process follows. Each step
in the sequence of events is shown and each step is identified by
type. Flow, both directional & elapsed time can be shown. Process
Maps can be at Macro, Intermediate or Micro levels. It is important
to be consistent with the level of detail shown on a Process map.
Process Maps, done correctly, will show complexity, problem areas,
redundancy, unnecessary loops and where simplification & standardization
may be possible. Using different colored “Post-It” Notes
is a convenient method of constructing a Process Map.
