VISUAL CONTROLS

Visual Controls is the use of signals, charts, measurements, diagrams, lights, and signs to clearly define the normal or desired condition and to expose the abnormal undesired condition. Visual controls allow for management by sight – visual management. They provide concise, unambiguous, timely communication about a given condition. Visual controls can take many forms: photos, signs, charts, symbols, objects, devices, etc. Good visual controls show us at the moment of occurrence when we deviate from the normal and go to the abnormal; that is, they make waste ugly.
